My watertight, spill-proof copywriting process

There are many talented copywriters in Melbourne, but delivering great copy is just part of the process. That’s the bare minimum. Part of my mission at Tea & Copy is to make your life (and your marketing) easier. So, when it comes to your satisfaction, I leave nothing to chance. I don’t read tea leaves or consult fortune cookies. Instead I follow a watertight copywriting process that’s been refined over countless cuppas. No mess, no spills, no stress, no worries. Here’s what to expect, from the moment you get in touch until the time I serve up your copy.

  1. CONTACT
Contact me with key details of your project. Tell me what we’re creating (eg: a website, a sales page or a blog post) and when you need it. I’ll respond with some ballpark pricing so you know if my rates fit your budget.
  2. QUOTE
If my ballpark pricing fits your budget, we’ll schedule a short call to discuss your project and make sure we’re a good fit. From there, I’ll send you a written proposal which clearly outlines all copywriting deliverables, timelines and fees. I’ll also send you my T&Cs, which cover everything from payment terms to the revision process.
  3. AGREEMENT & DEPOSIT
Once you accept my quote and return the signed proposal form, we’re almost ready to start brewing. To secure your writing time, I require a 50% deposit. I accept payment via bank deposit or credit card.
  4. RESEARCH & STRATEGY
Now it’s time to get down to business. If your project is large (like a website or long-form sales page), we’ll have a phone strategy session where we discuss your audience, objectives and unique selling points. Together, we’ll map out a plan of attack. I’ll also get started with any research, like industry, competitor or keyword research.
  5. FIRST DRAFT
Put the kettle on and relax, while I start writing your first draft. Armed with valuable knowledge about your business (and countless cups of tea), I’ll craft every word with TLC.
  6. REVIEW
Over to you. I’ll send my first draft for your review (usually within 5-10 business days, depending on the size of your project). Over 90% of my clients fall in love at first draft. However, if you’d like any changes, you’re in luck. I offer two free rounds of revisions with every copywriting project.
  7. FINAL DRAFT & INVOICE
I’ll send my final invoice shortly after the first draft. If required, I’ll complete any amendments and put the finishing touches on your copy. We both raise our teacups and toast your success.
